Put aside your opinion on the rights & wrongs of the Iraq war. one thing everyone agrees on is that every soldier killed is tragic and we’ll all feel better when our troops come home alive and well. But some experts warn that more soldiers could die of radioactive contamination & poisoning than died in armed combat.
It appears that bullets and shells contain depleted uranium, which is a toxic and radioactive waste product from isotopes used in nuclear reactors. Firing DU munitions creates a dust that’s inhaled and with enough exposure, dangerous.
DU has also contaminated Iraq, leading to mutated babies & cancer. it has a half life of 4.5 billion years.
How can our leaders preach ‘support the troops’ when they know of Gulf War Syndrome and the danger of DU? Doctors believe there’s a link between DU & Gulf War Syndrome.
After 9/11, they knowingly exposed NY citizens to asbestos from WTC1 & 2. Now it’s DU in Iraq. do governments care about people at all?

The Gulf War Syndrome started showing up about a year after the gulf war ended. this war has been going on for 3+ years now. Don't you think it would have shown its face by now. Besides, everything I've read or heard about the disease is from bio or chemical weapons. And yes i've known people who have suffered from it.

I think they're firing more DU on the Solway Firth than in Iraq. Maybe you should ask the good folks of Dumfries or Barrow-in-Furness.

The "information" given out about our troops being poisoned and Iraq being contaminated by DU is most likely the work of anti-government/anti-military conspiracy theorists.

1. where is your proof of the mutations in the Iraqi people? over exaggerated tests in lab mice do not count.
2. was is completed with a documented "double-blind" test?
3. If you can't answer either of these then don't put issues of junk science on the plate.
Any radioactive substance can harm DNA, this can lead to cancers. DU is particularly bad if it is in dust form as it can be inhaled and ingested. Litvenyenko, the spy who was poisoned recently was exposed only to alpha radiation, but this proved deadly due to being ingested.
Judging by there actions it would seem governments don't care about their soldiers or their people, and certainly not the people of other countries.
Actually that "link" between GWS and DU are controversial…not everyone agrees with that. that is just one theory about GWS.
In fact I believe a report just came out(past year or so)….which found that there was NO link.
Congress is still funding some programs for it though.
Edit: If you believe DU is still being used…and is the cause of GWS…then why has there been no cases this war? If have not heard of one. The are def in the same region and exposed to the same thing(according to you)…..if that's the case then we would have seen some soldiers with GWS over the past few years.
