Ive been living at my student accommodation since Oct 7-8th. Recently I went back home and was told I am heaving slightly. Im wondering what the cause could be and if it is possible that asbestos is present in the building. 3 other people in the building have heavy coughs Im not quite sure if that is relevant (probably due to not dressing warm).
Its a house and I think it was renovated about 6 years ago, it was a 4 bedroom has and was converted to an 11 bedroom (dont ask me how they got planning), so the cheap factor is there.
Probably not an asbestos problem. Asbestos is only a problem when it becomes disturbed. Like when you are tearing it out and the dust becomes airborne. even if there is Asbestos in the house it will not harm unless it somehow becomes airborne which is very unlikely.
If they remodeled the house they probably removed any asbestos at that time.
I would also consider the possibility of mold.
Asbestosis takes years to develop, probably just a virus,or swine flue
