Hi I work for a UK company and I am currently working in Libya. there is basically asbestos everywhere and last week there was a pipe full of calcium silicate which I banged my head on. Basically it could have released some fibres and I could have inhaled some. It is so bad out here that I just want to get out but I feel I should stay until an independant company has been out to sample where I struck my head so at least I can get a letter saying that I have potetially been exposed. Does anyone have any advice on what I can do? I get the feeling my company wants to brush everything under the table. They expect us to just go work with asbestos lying about everywhere. They did get a company in which did random tests in the air and it was fine but if you coulf see the stuff laying about everywhere it isnt so fine! please give me advice
The best advice I can give you is go or contact your local council.tell them the story you been telling yahoo.Let them get behind all this.you are not supposed to work in an environment filled with asbestos.
The authorities are behind you,you only need to contact someone.
