New Things in Lymphoma Treatment

There are many ways to treat lymphoma, but new ways of treating this type of cancer are always welcomed.

The already existing types of treatment show good results, but as the disease becomes more and more complicated, new methods to treat it must be found. There is always room for improvement. Here are some of the new methods of treating lymphoma:

- vaccine against lymphoma is one of the new ways of approach; this treatment method is still being investigated, but the results are good so far; lymphoma vaccines are custom made; this vaccine against lymphoma can actually be a breakthrough, as early results show that the anti- tumor effect that this vaccine has is amazing, especially in people who have low- grade lymphoma or are in remission; because the results of these vaccines are very promising, they are now being trialed together with chemotherapy; clinical trials on patients who are diagnosed with low grade non- Hodgkin lymphoma are taking place even as you read this;

- anti-sense drugs are also another approach to lymphoma; these drugs try to stop or at least prevent the production of proteins specific to lymphoma and cancer in general; they interfere with the genes that are responsible for creating these proteins; these drugs may prove to be very useful in lymphoma cases, as they appear not to interfere with the healthy cells that you have in your body; this is good news, because this also means that the side effects of this new lymphoma treatment are going to be very little if non existent; further research is necessary, but so far there are only good news about this lymphoma treatment;

As you probably know, clinical trial is another form of treating lymphoma. Probably may of you have wondered what this means. Well, new therapies that have not yet been approved, but pose no threat to the lymphoma patient are being trialed on the person who chooses this method of treatment. Researchers try to find the best therapy method against lymphoma and clinical trials is thus necessary. Usually lymphoma patients choose these experimental trials when everything else has failed or the new ways of treatment appear to be more promising. Many lymphoma patients may be a little doubtful at first, but when the therapy that is trailed shows good results, all doubt is gone. Lymphoma vaccines or anti-sense drugs have been tested the same way, with the help of clinical trials.

Is there possibility to have Lymphnode but harmless after Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma Treatment.?

Please Professional Answers.

My Mom is Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma patient she had her third chemo and there was 60% cancer reduction on the scanning report and we continue giving her chemo so after 8th chemo there was very little reduction, her doctor says its possible to have lymph node but harmless means there is no disease in it but it is just piece of mass cause by non hodgkin lyphoma, so we will keep eye on it for the next 6 months , the problem is this we dont have PET SCAN here to find out if the lymph node is still growing or not.

So is it possible to have lymph nodes left but no disease after non hodgkin lymphoma treatment?
Auntie*M: Thanks for your reply yes you define it better residual mass that is what doctor told us, that in some of his patients the scar tissue is left after treatment, but i am still worried whether its dead tissue or is it live lymph node.

is there any doctor please? or anyone else?

Answer
Well, this is kind of a bad question, because Everyone has lymph nodes.. it’s part of our lymphatic system.. but it sounds like her’s in malignant (bad) so i think they can remove the pestilence from it, but not remove the lymphnode completely?? I don’t know for sure, I’m not a doctor :) But they always tell me at check ups that I have huge lymph nodes haha
